Penile Surgery - Penis Cancer
Penile surgery for penis cancer is available at the Urology Specialists Florida urology center. Although penis cancer is fairly rare, just like any cancer, it needs to be caught early for a good prognosis. If you see changes in the skin of the penis or feel lumps or start spraying urine instead of a stream them have them evaluated by our urologists so early action can be taken stopping any major life changes to occur. Penis cancer if not treated can spread to the lymph nodes, prostate and bladder. This metastasized cancer can become life threatening if not taken care of immediately.
Penile surgery can freeze, vaporize, and remove the penis cancer if caught on time. For cancer on the skin of the penis microsurgery and laser surgery are used. When the foreskin has cancer, a circumcision will be performed. When a cancerous tumor is found cryosurgery can be used to freeze and thaw the tumors cells. Our Urology Specialists doctors will exam you and determine what stage of cancer you have you may have cancer in the erectile tissue and a lymph node; you may have cancer in your urethra and your lymph nodes and whatever your diagnosis is our large team of professional urology specialists will get you the treatment you need right away.
If the penis cancer has spread into you penis then a partial penectomy (partial penis removal) or a radical penectomy may be needed. You will be given a complete workup and it will be determined what other organs or lymph nodes it has spread to and a care plan that may include chemotherapy, radiation treatments, prostate cancer surgery or bladder surgery for cancer bladder invasion. Radiosensitizers may be given so that cancer cells become more sensitive to radiation treatments. There are also biological treatments for penis cancer.
Penile surgery for a radical penectomy is rare and early penis cancer detection is the key to a successful outcome so if any penis cancer symptoms or differences in the penis start to occur call us at (305) 822-7227.
